Ivy's Aunt and cousin visit

Ivy's cousin Winnie came to visit Maggie for the first time with her friend Linda.

Mom and Mags

The picture says it all.

Tummy time

Maggie's doctor recommended that Maggie spend some time on her tummy to build her neck muscles. She kept moving her legs back and forth like she was ready to start crawling already. I have a feeling she's going to be a quick learner.

Future BFF

Our friends Seng and Vimala came over for a visit with their 10 month old daughter Alexa. Alexa was so curious at little Maggie. After holding Maggie all this time, Alexa felt like a giant in my arms.

Mags just chillin

Life is a little easier now. We've finally got Maggie on somewhat of a routine. We're actually able to sleep a little. Here are pics of Maggie just being cute.

Tyler's first visit at the hospital

Ever since my nephew Tyler heard that Ivy was pregnant, he would call me on the phone and ask when Maggie was coming. He's been waiting so long that he couldn't stand it and asked his mom to take him to visit Maggie at the hospital.

He brought along a teddy bear that he named Rose.

Here is a message he wrote for Maggie on my computer:

Maggie your bear name is Rose.
Maggie come and play Wii if you want.
I will come again.

Tyler reminded me 3 times to bring Rose home for Maggie.

Ivy and I was so touched at the hospital. I'm sure these two will be playing together soon enough.

Sleep with one eye open, gripping my blanket tight.

Maggie's Home

We were discharged from the hospital today at noon. Mom and baby are doing well at home. Rocky suprisingly doesn't seem to care that Maggies here. However, he will bark once she starts crying.

Here she is sleeping in her own crib for the first time.

Maggie's here

After 1:45 of pushing, Maggy arrived a healthy 5lb 14oz baby at 7:35am 7/08/08. All in all, it went rather quickly. Ivy tried to ride it out as long as possible without meds. But at 3am broke down and asked for an epidural around 7cm. I am so proud of her. It is absolutely amazing the determination and strength she had with no food and sleep to be pushing the way she did. But in the end, we had what we wanted, a vaginal birth of a healthy baby.

5 cm and counting

It's 11:45 and we're all in shock right now. When the catheter was put in at 9:30, we didn't expect the cervix to dilate right away. We thought it would take till Tuesday morning for the cervix to start dilating. But when Ivy sneezed, the catheter poped out. In about 2 hours, she dilated 5 cm.

So instead of stopping the meds at midnight, the doctor punctured the amniotic sac and we are proceeding forward. At this rate, Ivy should be at 10 cm around 4-5 am. I guess no sleep starts today!

Wish us luck.

Almost there

Ivy's doctor had Ivy admitted to the hospital today. All the tests show that she has high blood pressure, low platelet count and high uric acid levels. Bottom line is the doctor thinks that it's best to have the baby induced.

We're trying to avoid a cesarean as much as possible. So the doctor inserted a catheter into the cervix to hopefully start it dilating to 3 cm. At the same time Ivy is on pitocin to start the contractions. If nothing happens at midnight, the pitocin will stop and we will continue at 6am tomorrow.

If everything goes well baby will arrive 7/8/08. Missed it by one month.

Which one of these animals don't belong?

We are ready for the arrival of mini Ivy with 2 weeks till due date. We have all that we need, the suitcase is all packed. The last checkup showed a higher than normal level of uric (sp?) acid. The nurse says that because of this, we'll likely deliver early, most likely by inducement.

Ans: Spongebob Squarepants. He's a sponge not an animal.
