Guess what???

I know they say we should wait at least 3 months before getting too excited. But it's close enough. Yes, we are going to be proud parents this summer. Estimated due date is July 21st. We still have a couple more months to go before we will know the sex of the baby.

Last week we went in for our first doctors appointment and was able to hear the baby's heart beat at 9 weeks. At this size, it's beating at 180 beats per minute. It'll slow down once the baby get's bigger. This past Wed we did our first ultrasound that you see here. Right now the baby is about the size of an apple. Believe it or not, it's moving around quite a bit.

Although we are ecstatic about the baby, it is taking it's toll on Ivy. Her morning sickness is pretty bad. She get's nauseous very easily and throws up frequently. Hopefully, this will all go away after the 3rd month.

Keep posted to my blog as I update the progress of my little mini me.

Comic relief

I was introduced to this guy Russell Peters from my coworker. Kinda weird Indian name I know, but he is funny as hell. If you haven't seen him, and you just need a break/laugh/relax, watch it and prepare to laugh your ass off. Haven't seen someone this funny is a long time.

Chevron

I went to the gas station to fill up before picking up Ivy from work. It's from a Chevron that I've filled up at a hundred times before. One mile down the road, my car starts to vibrate and I get this feeling that it's about to die on me. I'm at a stop light with no where to go and of course the car dies shortly after. I'm in my Toyota Sienna that is less than a year old, so I'm thinking what the fuck? Right away, I call the tow company to get me to a Toyota dealership. When I get there, I'm all yelling at them thinking they sold me a piece of shit. This is right at 5pm when the guys get off work, so he's only half listening to me which really pisses me off more. I've already had to take my car in before for a problem with the front grill, so I'm just letting this guy have it.

Next day, Toyota calls me back and says that I've either got water or diesel gas in my tank. I'm thinking, there's no way it's water and I sure as hell would know if I put diesel in my tank. The guys says that it'll cost me around $1200 to get everything fixed. I have no choice, so I tell him to go ahead and get it done.

At this point I'm thinking it's gotta be Chevron, they must've filled their supreme gas with diesel and fucked up my car. When I get there, I'm ready to go off like I did at Toyota, but once I got into my story, the manager says that they've had some complaints already and that they'd take care of everything. I'm thinking, Wow, not only did he admit they were wrong, but they're going to take care of everything. We exchanged contact info and by the time I got back to my office, the manager had already called Toyota to take care of everything. So what happened was that there was some water in the batch of gas that was delivered that got into Chevron's underground tanks. I guess it doensn't take much to fuck up your car and stall it. Everyone I've told the story to has told me to sue Chevron and get a piece of their pie. I'd love to do that, but they've already admited guilt and will take care of the problem. Do I still have a case at this point? Can I sue for suffering? I'll have to look into this a little more.

Side note #1: They gave me a Highlander for a loaner. Great car, rides well, awesome power, steering and brakes. Downside is that it chugs gas faster than a frat boy on spring break.

Side note #2: My technician's name at Toyota is JR. I called him a few times and always got his voicemail. Not sure if he did it as a joke (remember the Seinfield episode of Jimmy?), but he left his outgoing message in 3rd person. If you want a good laugh, call 425-455-9500 and press the service option and press#3 for JR.

Bad Dog

So it's my fault for leaving a can of chocolate covered macadamia nuts on the living room coffee table for days. How was I to know that Rocky could smell an unopened can of nuts. As you can see from the pic, he bit through some metal. But there's not a single scratch on him or blood on the ground.

Yes he did eat the whole can. And this is after he ate his dinner mind you. I couldn't even eat the whole can if I tried. Silly boy was on such a suger high that he was playing with his ball well past midnight. He's usually lights out around 10.

Thai night

I felt like making dinner tonight so I made spicy red chicken curry with bamboo shoots and pineapple fried rice. For desert, I made haupia to cool the spicy hotness.

Zen garden

After Joe's engagement dinner at Zen garden, we decided to go back there to try their dim sum. Of course we bump in to Uncle Stanley and Joe. Oh well, nobody planned anything.

They don't have any carts that you typically see in dim sum joints. Since everything is ordered, it comes to you piping hot. It had all the standard stuff along with my favorites, curry squid and custard/salty egg yolk bun, that most places don't have.

We were actually seated near the window so the view was spectacular. There's even a see through floor for you to see the water down below. For all the effort they put into the landscape, there's no fish swimming in the water. Go figure.

Oi's Bday

We took Ivy's mom to Yama Sushi for her birthday. The atmosphere was very relaxing with good service. Food was better than expected. The wait staff was very accomidating and didn't push us into ordering drinks like a lot of other places we've been to. It annoys the hell out of me when they do that.

My sushi platter

Ivy's sashimi platter.

Nate, since you like taking pics so much of lighting, this one's for you.

Mmmmm, that was damn good cake.
